In case you haven’t yet seen it, Nina Ricci has just released one of the best films for the autumn/winter 2012/13 campaign season.
Directed by Inez & Vinoodh, it encapsulates a beautiful yet distorted dream sequence as model Kati Nescher undergoes a form of enchanted exorcism. Opening on expansive green gardens, it twists and turns to the sound of New York electro-pop group Avan Lava, and a stream of backward-playing vocals.
But it’s the tie-in of British artist Jo Ratcliffe’s work (also seen in the GIFs released for the brand’s recent La Rue bag campaign) that cements the mood – a delicate white line-drawn cobweb surrounds Nescher, before a deer emerges from her, floats into the sky and transforms into a flock of birds.

A handful of brands in Milan and Paris have been using their fashion week shows as an opportunity to release campaign videos for their current collections.
First up is Giorgio Armani with a three-minute spot based on its spring/summer 2012 campaign called “One Plus One”. Directed by Luca Guadagnino in Italy, the narrative follows the “story of a suspenseful and unsettling love triangle”, reported WWD.
“Today, fashion needs to open itself to new languages,” said the designer. “Cinema is the form of expression I have always felt the closest to. Working with Luca Guadagnino, I have had the opportunity to transform the atmosphere of my collection into a story, and it has been a stimulating experience.”
Nina Ricci has similarly unveiled a new film based on its latest campaign. Directed by photographers Inez & Vinoodh, and shot in Old Westbury in Long Island, New York, it stars model Raquel Zimmermann.
The spot will be showcased during the designer’s autumn/winter 2012/13 show at Paris Fashion Week tomorrow. It is also being broadcast in Nina Ricci stores.
And finally, Dolce & Gabbana has released a video that depicts its spring campaign “in motion”. Monica Bellucci and Bianca Balti alongside their pseudo Italian family are seen dancing, playing, talking and laughing as they pose for Giampaolo Sgura’s camera.
Donna Karan has released a short film to accompany its autumn/winter 2011/12 ad campaign.
Directed by Inez & Vinnodh, it goes by the title of “The Power of a Woman”, and takes its inspiration from the brand’s 1992 campaign featuring model Rosemary McGrotha being sworn into office.
“It doesn’t take an ad campaign to make women feel powerful, but oftentimes how we dress plays a huge roll in how we feel,” wrote DKNY PR Girl on her blog. “For Fall 2011, Donna is once again inspired by a woman empowered. She’s powerful because she makes a difference. She’s powerful because she can be anything- a Senator, a Presidential candidate, a Mother.”
Isabeli Fontana stars.
