Topshop connects physical and digital worlds with #trickortweet Halloween campaign

24 Oct

Topshop is introducing the idea of tweets as currency this Halloween by inviting shoppers to take to Twitter while in store in exchange for certain make-up products.

Part and parcel of the British retailer’s #trickortweet campaign which celebrates its new Witching Hour collection, the initiative will see select flagship stores hosting a special “Tweet Shop” where the online-meets-offline experience will take place.

Trick or Tweet-themed backdrops and posters will be made available for consumers to take a twitpic of themselves in front of.

Fans away from the store are also invited to tweet to @Topshop using the hashtag with their favourite Halloween style tip or a twitpic of their Halloween outfit anytime between October 26-31. The same is being pushed across Instagram.

“We love the idea of using Halloween to connect our digital and physical worlds. We know our customer moves seamlessly between the two and we want to make that experience even more fun for them and drive conversation in our community around a moment that everyone wants to be a part of,” says Justin Cooke, CMO of Topshop.

Topshop will send back personalised thank you messages to entrants, with the best tweets each day winning £100/$150 gift cards.

Prizes will also be given in store to those dressed in the best Halloween-inspired outfits during the “witching hour” of  5pm-6pm on October 27 and 31. Further activities will include complimentary make-overs and a number of DJ performances.

Participating stores include Oxford Circus, Manchester Arndale, Liverpool, New York, Las Vegas and Chicago.

Detailing top brand users on Instagram

22 Aug

An interesting table here detailing some of the top brand users on Instagram. Note the presence of luxury companies including Burberry, Gucci, Tiffany & Co and Hermès.

Burberry scoops the prize for highest number of photos from this list, but it’s perhaps more interesting to note the level of engagement being achieved from Nike in terms of both likes and comments.

The photo-sharing and photo-filter app has grown from 15m users in early 2012 to 80m in July. That’s an increase of more than 400% in just seven months. Brands have taken note – according to Simply Measured, who released the table above, 40% of the brands listed in Interbrand’s Top 100 now have their own Instagram accounts (this compares with 90% for Facebook and Twitter, but Instagram is of course, only two years old).

Kenneth Cole inspires with word-based Instagram contest

16 Aug

Kenneth Cole has assembled a team of “culture mavens” to act as curators and judge its new contest on Instagram, which invites fans to submit photos based on inspirational words.

The initiative celebrates the launch of the brand’s higher positioned line, Kenneth Cole Collection, and this week focuses on the word “impact”. Lauren Indvik, associate business editor of Mashable, will choose her favourite image. Previous words have included “provocative” and “empowering”.

“Join the collection of voices,” reads a post about it from Kenneth Cole. “Speak through style. Express through image. Make a statement through Instagram.”

To enter, users need to follow @KennethColePRD on Instagram and tag their pictures with #KCCVoices and #impact. Above the brand shows its own idea of impact in New York City.

Giorgio Armani crowdsources eyewear shots via Instagram #framesoflife campaign

6 Jul

Giorgio Armani is calling for consumers to share Instagram pictures of themselves wearing their favourite sunglasses, as part of its spring/summer 2012 Frames of Life eyewear campaign.

Frames of Your Holiday, as it’s called, invites users to upload shots of an unforgettable moment, place or scene using the #framesoflife hashtag.  The pictures will then be included in a digital photo gallery on the armani.com/framesoflife site.

The aim is to create an “entertaining visual diary”, reads the write-up. It suggests pictures that signify life at its fullest, ranging from holiday shots on the beach or in town, with friends or in total relaxation, immersed in the pure enjoyment of nature and sport, or surrounded by the charm of some distant city.

Multimedia Burberry campaign invites users to pre-order new collection

29 May

Burberry is inviting consumers to purchase directly from its autumn/winter 2012 campaign and ahead of store delivery, through a series of short films and imagery.

In a continuation of the brand’s Runway to Reality concept, which allows consumers to pre-order items straight from the catwalk, fans will be able to buy straight from the campaign gallery on Burberry.com for the first time.

The campaign – starring up-and-coming British actress Gabriella Wilde, alongside musician Roo Panes – will break on June 1, with new creative rolled out on a monthly basis thereafter. Referred to as the brand’s “most cinematic shoot to date”, it was captured by Mario Testino at the Royal Naval College in London at night.

“We wanted to play with everything that’s at the heart of the Burberry world – celebrating our brand and London through imagery, film, music, weather and our iconic outerwear, all in a very poetic and British way,” said chief creative officer, Christopher Bailey.

Panes has written and recorded a track called “Indigo Home” exclusively for Burberry, due to be released on iTunes also on June 1. The campaign will also be pushed across international platforms including Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Google+, Instagram, Pinterest, Sina Weibo, Douban, Kaixin001 and Youku.
